Bang Tango - Psycho Cafe

Bang Tango hit the metal scene during the time when adding a bit of funk to your metal was en vogue (come to think of it, En Vogue was still en vogue back then as well). Faith No More paved the way, and Bang Tango followed suit.

One of the interesting things about this album is that you can literally hear the last vestiges of hair metal being shaken off. There are small pieces of Poison and Cinderella in Bang Tango, but they generally fall by the wayside.

Psycho Cafe is a hard-hitting album. There's a lone ballad in "Just For You," which sounds a little obligatory and half-hearted, but that is followed up with some Flea style funk slapping on "Do What You're Told." This album bridges the gap from the 80's brand of metal to the 90's. If you want to hear exactly what that change sounded like, this is your jam.

Baleeted? No. I have a soft spot for funk-infused metal.
