Wagner - Masters of Classical Music

It was once said of Wagner that he has good moments, which are usually followed by bad half-hours. I tend to enjoy Wagner, but even as a Wagner apologist I have to admit that some of his works tend to be a lot  longer than necessary (I'm looking at you Der Ring des Nibelungen).

This CD compiles some of the better movements from lengthier Wagner works. Oddly enough, it doesn't contain Ride of the Valkyries, which is one of Wagner's best known works. It does contain a nice recording of the overture to Tannhauser, which always makes me think of this cartoon (I especially love Bugs' fat horse).  Anyway, if you're looking for snippets of some of Wagner's better works, I suppose you could do worse.
